A Perfect River Mill Wedding

Beth and Han definitely know how to celebrate! They planned their perfect wedding day from start to finish, and I was there to capture their story at the beautiful River Mill venue, nestled in the historic mills at Darley Abbey in Derby.

Han and Beth met online during the 2021 lockdown, one wet and rainy day in Manchester. Fast forward 3 years and these two were stood at the end of the aisle in the River Mill Wedding Venue, Darley Abbey, reading their carefully composed and completely unique wedding vows to one another in front of their family and friends.

The two had ditched the tradition of spending the night before the wedding apart, and so I met them both in one of the cottages near the River Mill, where they were relaxing, enjoying the morning and having their hair styled and makeup applied. The bed was littered with snacks - so my kind of morning!

Before long, Beth headed off to the River Mill to finish getting ready, (bumping into beautiful Hollie, their dog, who was being looked after by Dogs and Weddings) while Han stayed at the cottage. I spent the next forty-five minutes or so running between the two locations to make sure I'd got shots of both brides applying the finishing touches. Over at the River Mill, guests were beginning to arrive and were entertained by the fabulous music of Lily Kerbey (check out here Instagram here) who was brilliant all day! Bethany and Han had also arranged for the wonderful Connie from Wit And Wonder Ceremonies (here on Insta) to act as celebrant, and it was a pleasure to work with her. Connie really took the time to get to know Han and Beth, and that made the ceremony completely personal to them.

The rest of the day passed perfectly, in a heady mix of music, dancing, lawn giant jenga, drinks, sunshine, Hollie-dog chaos, sparklers, sunglasses for guests (one of the best ideas for a wedding ever - check out the shots below!), and lots and lots of love and laughter! It was an absolute joy to spend the day with Beth, Han, their awesome friends and family and the other brilliant suppliers that helped make the day so memorable.
