Top Wedding Venues In Derby, UK

October 2nd, 2024

I am often asked for my top recommendations for wedding venues in our fair city. So, here it is, my list of the top five wedding venues in Derby, UK. And don't worry, you won't find any chain hotels here. These are all unique, local gems that make each wedding they host truly special.

Let's start with the magnificent Kedleston Hall. This National Trust property is a neo-classical masterpiece, offering a stunning backdrop for any wedding. Imagine saying your vows in a grand hall, beneath glittering chandeliers, with your loved ones watching from the elegant balcony above. The surrounding parkland is exquisite at any time of year, but there's something particularly magical about a winter wedding at Kedleston Hall; the snow-dusted trees and frosty lawns create a fairy-tale setting. This venue is ideal for couples planning a large, traditional wedding, where the grandeur and history of the setting will make the day unforgettable.

Next on the list is Osmaston Park. Nestled amidst the rolling Derbyshire Dales, this venue is perfect for nature-loving couples. The charming marquee overlooks a stunning lake, offering breathtaking views and plenty of photo opportunities. Osmaston Park is best enjoyed in the spring, when the surrounding woodlands are bursting with bluebells and the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. This venue is perfect for both intimate and large weddings, catering to a wide range of wedding styles from rustic to luxurious.

The West Mill is an industrial-chic wedding venue set within the historic cotton spinning mill. With exposed brick walls, cast iron beams, and original industrial artefacts, it's a unique and stylish option for modern couples. The Mill works brilliantly in all seasons, but there's something particularly cosy about a winter wedding here, with fairy lights twinkling against the brickwork. Ideal for large weddings, the venue can accommodate up to 160 guests for a sit-down meal.

The fourth venue on my list is Shottle Hall, a beautiful country house set within 14 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. The views across the open countryside are simply stunning, and the house itself exudes a timeless elegance. Autumn weddings at Shottle Hall are especially beautiful, with the surrounding woodland showcasing an array of vibrant colours. This venue is perfect for couples looking for an intimate, romantic setting for their big day.

Finally, there's The Riding School at Calke Abbey. This venue is a hidden gem, with its high ceilings, large windows, and beautiful stonework. The surrounding parkland is wonderful for outdoor ceremonies and the venue itself is blank canvas, allowing couples to really put their personal stamp on their wedding. The Riding School is particularly beautiful in the summer, when the surrounding gardens are in full bloom. It's perfect for both intimate weddings and grand celebrations.

And there you have it, my top five wedding venues in Derby, UK. Each one unique, each one special, and each one offering the perfect setting for the most important day of your life. As a photographer, I can tell you that these venues provide beautiful backdrops for photos. But, more importantly, I can tell you that they offer the perfect environment to create lasting memories with your loved ones.
